As my business has changed, it only seems right to start off my new blog series on exploring the question that I have been asked so often lately:

What is an OBM?

An OBM (Online Business Manager) is a virtually-based support professional who manages online based businesses and is responsible for a more strategic and detailed approach to business support, when compared to a Virtual Assistant.

Having run my VA business for four years it was starting to become apparent to me that my clients were asking me to do MORE in their businesses. This often meant going above and beyond the VA role and I feel I’ve naturally shifted into this new way of working, which benefits my clients and my business.

An OBM looks at the strategic running of a client’s business and works as their right hand (wo)man to support them. They might look at specific areas of the business or have a bird’s eye view; they often manage a team of freelancers; plan launches; manage the back end of a client’s business and manage the day to day administration of a client’s business for them.

Quite simply, they are the client’s right hand.

I knew that this was the right way for me to shift my business when I started to look at my clients’ businesses in the same way that I view my own. I started to schedule way ahead for them, analyse their data to inform future marketing and look for improvements in their systems.

All of these are OBM skills and so I set about up-levelling my own business to reflect my new services.

So this is where you find me! Absolutely More Than Admin; I support my clients to move their own businesses forward. I offer right hand support to a select number of founders who trust me with the running of their online businesses and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
